I’m sure you’re all aware of the Style me Pretty wedding blog which covers the US and I think is the most amazing wedding blog on earth. Well, I’ve found a UK equivalent which seems equally as nice with some great ideas and inspirations, called Ruffled. I found these sources of inspiration really helped when I got married. The photography is outstanding and it makes you just want everything you see. Check out the DIY section to cut down your on costs. It really will help you with ideas!

…then you just have to take a look at this beautiful cake which I found on The Roxy Cake blog. Each individual peony is hand made from icing and the colours as you can see are to die for. You’d be mad not to like it!

There’s still a child in all of us, so why don’t you treat your guests to a table to sweet delights rather than the traditional wedding favours! Simply place an empty bag on each table and let your guests fill up at their own leisure. I went to a wedding recently that did exactly this, it was so much fun and the kids loved it too!

It’s always useful to have something on a table for your guests to leave their wedding cards. Why not try this idea, a bird cage, which looks not only vintage but a little different as well. Bird cages have also been very popular as centre pieces for the tables. You can add candles or flowers to complete the look.

You just cannot beat a Martha Stewart wedding cake. Made to perfection, a real talking point, just beautiful. She has some great wedding ideas on her website www.marthastewart.com/

Why not save the pennies and create your own vintage wedding table. You can collect crockery and various other items from car boot sales, charity shops and other brick a brack shops around your area. You’ll be surprised what you can pick up for 50p when next door they’re selling it for £20.00. Its definately worth looking around. All things vintage is a hot topic and has been for a while now so get out there and create your own style, it not only looks great but can be a fraction of the price.

Why go for the traditional wedding cake when you can choose something a little more unique like this divided homemade cake. It not only looks delicious but it’s things litle this that will add to your vintage DIY wedding and something more personal to you, and of course a fraction of the price!

Its so important for every little detail to look perfect, even down to your guest book table. Take a look at this lovely vintage style table layout above, with scattered black and white family photos…divine!

Another stunning dress by Lela Rose. Beautifully made with embellished fabrics to create these wonderful dresses. This dress above is part of Lela’s Spring 2010 wedding collection so hasn’t been around for long. If you want to view more of Lela’s work take a look at www.lelarose.com.

This fantastic bouquet was found on a great blog called ‘Nibs’ and made by the blog owner so not from a specific florist but nevertheless, beautiful! Lovely summer colours for that vintage style wedding. I love the dark burgandy mixed in with a range of scents to complete. The photography also caught my eye with that rustic edge to finish off this photo!

Vera Wang is an incredible fashion designer from New York. She used to be a magazine editor and competitive skater, but she’s obviously branched out since then! Now, since getting married, her company specialises in bridalwear. But she doesnt only do dresses and fashion, she also designs and sells exquisite tableware and other items that would make very elegant and generous gifts. This beautiful crockery set pictured above has a lovely modern-shaped jug but it’s all still quite vintage. The photography on her website is incredible as well, check it out here: www.verawangonweddings.com

How cool to have a retro themed wedding with all the trimmings. I found this photo above from Project Wedding and loved the overall sexiness. So glamorous and would fit in perfectly with some of my designs ‘Glamorous’ being he obvious option!

I’ve just spent the evening thumbing through this amazing new book called ‘The Way We Live With The Things We Love’ from Thames & Hudson. The publisher have brought out some amazing books on style from around the world, and this is no exception. Every page is crammed with glossy photographs of rooms full of eccentric bric-a-brac, rustic ornaments, beautiful old-fashioned pictures, art, funky furniture and quirky antiques. I especially like the little flea market finds from various parts of Europe - amazing objects that are totally unique. Only problem is, I won’t find any of this on the high street so I’ll have to keep searching the flea markets and hope I can find my own little treasures!

‘Watch me go’ is a fantastic website selling vintage and retro watches from Casio to everyday vintage brands, you’ll be sure to find what you are looking for if you want something with a cool twist. A great choice for wedding gifts.

I couldn’t resist adding these sweet favour boxes on my style blog. The colouring is the same as our signature logo and I can imagine them to look really effective as favours placed on the tables. You could pretty much offer what you like inside. You could also customise to reflect your special day…spot on I reckon.

I recently came across these great vintage style boxes from a lovely company called Rose and Grey. They are a small family run business with some wonderful products for you and your home. Guarenteed to add a touch of style and elegance mixed in with a vintage feel…

Some people would rather not have a wedding cake. Although its nice to capture that moment of you both cutting the cake its sometimes nice to do something a bit different. I found a great alternative…these cupcakes all wraped beautifully and customised to suit. A really great idea, and if your guests are too tipsy to remember your cake, instead they can take it home and enjoy it the following day…perfect!

Your wedding photographs may become your most treasured possession in the years after your special day, so it’s worth taking the time to get them right. But you don’t have to settle for the typical contrived wedding shots. There are so many talented contemporary photographers out there who might capture a unique angle, atmosphere, scene or poignant moment that the traditional approach may miss.
Shop around for local photographers and browse for specialists online where you can check out their portfolio, but we’d suggest going with someone who’s been recommended by a friend, if possible. In fact, for my own wedding we were lucky enough to get two photographers. so we could be sure we’d get all the shots we wanted!
